VIAJE A CDMX / TRAVELING TO MEXICO CITY
This week I am going to be working from Mexico City, as I am there to visit friends. It's a week that will be mostly devoted to complete the documentation for the Weekly Assignments we did in the first part of the course, and I will take advantage of being in the Mexican Capital to search for my prototype's textiles in the abundant stores located close to the Zocalo.
INSPIRATION
My Inspiration for this week is cross-contamination between the old and new, the clean and the dirty, the posh and the grungy, and I will allow the City to infuse me with any novel idea, smell, taste, intuition that can fuel my project in one way or another. Considering my fascination for fractal systems, I will be observing the city as this complex fractal ecosystem, where the micro reflects the macro, from the city landscape to the chilangos emotional landscape.
OBJECTIVES & PLAN
This week will be simple in terms of the workload for the Final Assignment. I am finalizing my documentation from the Weekly Assignments so my focus will be on that endeavor. Nonetheless, I will be doing the following two things while in Mexico City:
- Create the parametric design of the MVP top in Rhinoceros + Grasshopper
- Buy fabric in the acclaimed textile stores surrounding the ares of the Zocalo
PARAMETRIC DESIGN FOR THE MVP TOP

- Patience
PROCEDURE
For the design of the MVP top, I decided to use a design inspired by the one I used in occasion of System Recovery 2.0, the fashion show we held at Fablab Yucatán last December. The visual inspiration came from the fractal shapes in nature, more specifically the Voronoi.
I wanted to create a more intentional voronoi than the one I create for the fashion show, with a heart emerging at the center of the chest, from the more random voronoi structure. I tried to use the voronoi in the same way I used the Delaunay
